His latest journey into marriage was with his long-time partner, Alicia Allain.

Their relationship, however, initially faced a legal hurdle due to John’s ongoing divorce from his second wife, Elvira “Elly” Schneider. Despite this, they exchanged vows on September 25, 2019, in a heartfelt ceremony held at John Schneider Studios in Holden, Louisiana.

Reflecting on their special day, Alicia expressed joy, calling it a “sanctuary of love,” while John commented at the time: “Happy is too small of a word.”

Tragically, their marital bliss was cut short when Alicia passed away in February 2023 at the age of 53, surrounded by her family.

In the wake of Alicia’s death, John took to Facebook to share his grief, stating (via People): “My beautiful Smile is pain-free, living in her new body alongside Jesus.”

Having previously discussed Alicia’s battle with breast cancer, John opened up about her diagnosis of stage 4 HER2 negative cancer.

Six months later, John made his first public appearance since Alicia’s passing, revealing in a tearful July 2023 interview with the Daily Mail that her death would inspire “remarkable, great things.” Tearfully, he expressed his commitment to helping others coping with loss while acknowledging that he would never fully recover from her death.

As part of his healing process, John channeled his emotions into his music, composing a new album titled We Are Still Us in honor of Alicia. He discussed his grieving journey during a public appearance at the “Drinks With Dee Dee” cabaret show in Hollywood, where he shared his plans to pay tribute to their shared love for music.

Although working on the album brought mixed emotions as he and Alicia often collaborated on music, John remained determined to honor her memory artistically. He proudly announced the completion of the album, which he considers his best work yet, aptly titled We’re Still Us.

Despite the pain of working on the project without Alicia, John remains committed to keeping her memory alive. He often shares letters to her online, a daily ritual to connect with her in spirit, and revealed that he writes letters to Alicia every single day.

This is truly a love story! What do you think? Let us know in the comments!
